Reelcart is a small, independent tool: paste a public Instagram recipe reel or post link and get a recipe summary plus a link to shop the ingredients on the Instacart® site. Here is exactly what that involves.

What Reelcart reads

Reelcart only works on public Instagram posts. When you paste a link, Reelcart fetches that post's caption and thumbnail image through a scraping service (Apify) so it can read the recipe. Reelcart does not log in to Instagram, does not access private accounts, and cannot read anything a private account restricts.

What Reelcart stores

Reelcart does not store the raw caption text it reads. It does keep the recipe it parses out of a post — the title, ingredients and short method — for 30 days, keyed only to that post's own Instagram code, so pasting the same public link twice doesn't spend a fresh scrape. Reelcart has no user accounts and no analytics that identify you individually.

To keep the free scraping service usable for everyone and within its monthly budget, Reelcart applies two rate limits: a short-lived, in-memory count of requests from your network address in the last few minutes, and a slower daily cap on new (not-yet-cached) reels per visitor, tracked by your network address and a first-party cookie that only ever holds a random id, never anything that identifies you. Reelcart may also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving bot check, before reading a new post; it runs invisibly and does not track you across other sites.

Third parties involved in each request

• Apify — scrapes the public Instagram post you linked to, to read its caption and thumbnail.
• Instacart — the ingredient list you choose to shop is sent to the Instacart® Developer Platform to build your shopping list link. Instacart and the Instacart logo are registered trademarks of Maplebear Inc. d/b/a Instacart. Products, prices, fees, delivery or pickup options and availability are set by Instacart and the store you choose there, not by Reelcart.
• Cloudflare Turnstile — when enabled, verifies a request isn't automated before Reelcart spends a scrape on it. It runs invisibly and does not require solving a puzzle.

Reelcart does not sell or share any data with anyone else. It is not endorsed by, and is not affiliated with, Instagram or Instacart.

Questions

Reelcart is a side project with no accounts and no support desk. If something looks wrong, the safest thing to do is stop using the link that caused it.
